Biographie
This collaboration between thisquietarmy (Eric Quach) and otay:onii (Lane Shi) traces its origins to a European tour in Spring 2023, where both artists crossed paths as part of Hypnodrone Ensemble—a Berlin-based collective led by Quach and Aidan Baker. The duo recorded in the summer of 2023 in Montreal, further unleashing a hauntingly immersive album —fusing Quach's dense, atmospheric guitar drones with Shi’s visceral vocals and textural sensibilities, blurring the edges between drone, avant-garde noise, and experimental vocal performance. The result is a dialogue between ethereal dissonance and visceral emotion, a powerful convergence of post-industrial ambience and emotionally charged experimentation—capturing the tension, intimacy, and unpredictability of their performative chemistry.
