Berlinde Deman (°1982) has earned her spurs in jazz, contemporary and classical music, as a regular tuba player in the Flat Earth Society Orchestra and as a versatile musician in projects with Dave Douglas, BaarsBuisDeman trio, Graindelavoix, Razen and Machinefabriek, among others. Her search for new worlds of sound led her to the serpent, a rare wind instrument from the 16th century - the mysterious forerunner of the tuba.In her solo programme, she combines the deep breath of this ancient instrument with the layering of loops and effects. She stretches time, interweaves textures and plays with resonances to open up a universe that escapes the hectic pace of everyday life. Here, between breath and electricity, between tradition and experimentation, an immersive world of sound emerges that is as disconcerting as it is familiar.OCTOBER 24TH 2025, her first solo album will be released on the New York label Relative Pitch Records, focusing on serpent and live electronics in all their rawness and subtlety.Let yourself be swept away by Berlinde Deman's multi-layered sound sculptures - where past and future merge into an intimate and elusive experience.
